About Me

Hi, I’m Adrienn Szlapak, or Adri for short. I’m an experienced EAL/ESL specialist, author and academic manager.

With over a decade of experience in English Language Teaching, teacher training, and academic management, I bring a unique perspective to teaching and managing EAL courses. As a former EAL learner, I deeply understand and empathize with the challenges faced by learners new to English.

I hold an MA in American Studies with a specialization in Cognitive Linguistics from Eötvös Loránd University in Budapest (2014) and a PGCEi from the University of Nottingham. I also successfully completed the Cambridge DELTA course in 2014. I am currently studying towards the NPQSL.

I’m passionate about professional development and have actively participated in international conferences as both a speaker and attendee. I currently serve as the blog editor for the IATEFL YLTSIG.

In 2024, I co-authored a book with Peter Clements titled Supporting EAL Learners: Strategies for Inclusion, published by DELTA Publishing.

This blog chronicles my journey of establishing EAL courses at both primary and secondary levels. It also serves as a platform for sharing my insights and ideas on effective EAL teaching.
